上周我们少儿英语故事说到，Happy Forest下雪了，小伙伴们一起扫雪。这周我们迎来了森林的新年晚会。
Teacher Rolin arranged a task: “Everyone must perform at the New Year Banquet!”
Rolin老师给大家布置了一个任务：“所有人都要在新年晚会上表演一个节目哦!”
The students were very excited and began to discuss their ideas, but nobody noticed Victor sitting in the back of the classroom looking very anxious. He was very worried because he had no talents.
大家热烈地讨论起来，没人注意到Victor正坐在教室后面愁眉苦脸。他很烦恼，因为自己什么才艺都没有。
At this time, Oxford went to Victor and said, “Hey, I’m going to read some poetry. Would you like to participate?” Victor had no self-confidence, so he declined: “Sorry. I can’t.”
这时Oxford来找Victor，“嘿，我准备表演诗歌朗读，你要加入吗?”Victor没有自信，只好拒绝，“对不起，我不会诗朗读。”
And in no time at all, the day of the New Year Banquet had arrived. Iris and Pandora sang a very beautiful song, and Junior showed everyone his breakdancing skills. Jimmy played the violin. Andrew’s magic got everyone’s attention and drew cheers from the audience.
很快就到了新年晚会的那天。Iris和Pandora唱了一首动听的歌。Junior给大家跳了一段街舞。Jimmy拉了小提琴。Andrew的魔术引来观众们的尖叫喝彩。Oxford的诗朗读也感动了大家。马上就要轮到Victor了。
Teacher Rolin saw that Victor was nervous and went to ask about his performance. As it turns out, Victor still didn’t know what he was going to do. Teacher Rolin asked, “What are you good at?” Victor thought for a long time, and then said, “I can tell jokes, but people rarely laugh.”
Rolin老师看出Victor的紧张，上前询问。原来Victor还是不知道自己应该表演什么。Rolin老师问：“你擅长什么呢?”Victor想了半天说：“我会讲笑话，可是很少有人会笑。”
“You just lack self-confidence,” Teacher Rolin said. “If you don’t have any self-confidence, then no matter how hard you try during your performance, it still won’t be any good. It’s your turn. Go tell some jokes!”
Rolin老师说：“你就是太不自信了。如果一个人不自信，就算他再努力表演，也不会精彩的。到你了，去给大家表演一场脱口秀吧!”
Victor mustered up the courage to walk out onto the stage and confidently told the audience a joke. Everyone thought it was great, and they laughed aloud. This made for a very warm atmosphere, and it was then that Victor understood the power of self-confidence.
Victor鼓起勇气走上舞台，充满自信地给大家讲了一个笑话。果然大家觉得有趣极了，都哈哈大笑起来，新年晚会的气氛因此热烈起来。Victor这才明白自信的力量。
